ANKOBRA RIVER
The river Ankobra lies between Tano and the Pra basins. The river contains rapids in the upper reaches. The gradient is gentle in the middle and lower reaches. The lower section upto the town Tomento is under the influence of tides. The major tributaries of the Ankobra are the Fure,  Mansi and Bonsa.

Sites were located at Nsueam, Breman and Mehami with a total capacity of 100MW.

The power produced at sites proposed for development in the Ankobra basin will be suitable for use in the Prestea Gold and Tarkwa Manganese mines which are located very near.
